Shaw Healthcare is recruiting a Painter and Decorator to cover our four care services in the Bristol region. Location: Bristol; travel to services in the region is required.

Primarily in Nailsea, with the opportunity for further work in Hartcliffe, Southmead and Brentry.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out pre-inspections with Care home Service Managers, Regional Operations team and Building Surveyors to determine the extent of internal and external painting and decoration required.
  • Determine the most cost-effective preparation and application of decorative products.
  • Carry out a range of external and internal painting and redecoration tasks within occupied and unoccupied communal areas of the homes, ensuring a durable and quality finish.
  • Prepare and clean surfaces using hand and power tools, applying appropriate methods.
  • Mix and thin paint to obtain the desired colour and texture as necessary.
  • Apply paint and other materials (stains, lacquers, enamel, oil-based paints, varnish, metal coatings, fire-retardant paints) using brushes, rollers or spray equipment, following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Self-manage and audit all works in agreement with the Building Surveyor or Facilities Manager.
  • Carry out all necessary administrative work, keeping accurate and timely records of all work undertaken.
  • Ensure all timesheets are completed and submitted to the Building Surveyor or finance team prior to the final week of the month.
  • Ensure all claimable expenses are noted, recorded and passed to the Building Surveyor, Facilities Manager or finance team prior to the final week of the month.
  • Liaise and work closely with all Service Managers, providing technical advice where required.
Qualifications
  • City & Guilds Part III or NVQ Level 2/3 in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent).
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Full and valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to plan and organise painting and decorating works/projects.
  • Ability to work efficiently, effectively, diligently and courteously without constant supervision.
  • Ability to work at heights safely and effectively.
