Job Description

This is a great opportunity to build your clinical skills in paediatric dentistry while supporting high-quality care for children and young people. You'll work within our consultant led Community Dental Service, supporting children with complex needs, behavioural challenges or medical conditions. You'll be part of a friendly, skilled team who share knowledge, collaborate on treatment planning and ensure every patient receives safe, person centred care. Your work will make a meaningful difference to families who need specialist support.

What you'll do:

  • Assess paediatric patients and create clear, safe treatment plans
  • Provide a range of restorative and preventive dental treatments
  • Use inhalation sedation where required, with in house training available
  • Communicate clearly with children, parents and carers in sensitive situations
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and follow all safety, quality and governance standards
Main duties of the job

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery and current UK registration with the General Dental Council
  • Completion of Foundation or Vocational Training
  • Confidence treating children and young people with varied needs
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive, multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to develop skills such as sedation and clinical audit

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • A Batchelor of Dental Surgery degree
  • GDC registration (applicants must have current UK professional registration)
  • Performers number required prior to assuming appointment
  • Completionof FoundationTraining or formerly Vocational Training (VT).
Knowledge Essential
  • Sound dental knowledge, with up to date knowledge of aspects of specialist practice within your scope of practice
  • Knowledge of the CDS contract, terms and conditions, and its role in the delivery of dental care
  • Awareness of wider public health issues.
Experience Essential
  • Broad experience working autonomously in wide range of treatments
Desirable
  • Demonstrable clinical experience in a CDS practice
  • Experienced in the use of inhalation sedation
  • Experience of undertaking audits
  • Experience of delivering domiciliary care
