Sr. Packaging Engineer (2-3 times per week office based)
Our client is a leading biotechnology company with a key site in Breda, focused on packaging, labeling, and distributing medicines across Europe and beyond. We are seeking a Packaging Engineer to join their team!
The Sr. Engineer position reports into the Senior Manager of Packaging Engineering under Combination Products Operations. This position requires the application of diverse and advanced engineering and scientific principles in support of commercial FDP operations in the
Companies manufacturing network including CMO's and Clinical. The job description, a summary:
Responsibilities
Project Management
- Key responsibilities will include leading the packaging development process for products at the sites. Additional responsibilities will include the provision of technical operations support for the continuous improvement of packaging components and advisory of technical improvement projects. The Sr. Engineer must ensure effective communication throughout the companies commercial site network with all stakeholders and deliver on technical improvements.
Technical Support
- Act as the site subject matter expert for packaging components at the sites. Technical support for new materials and packaging processes. The candidate is expected to use material science, technical process knowledge and identify the required expertise to resolve process challenges as needed.
Operational Excellence
- Responsible for supporting the delivery of productivity, throughput, and general capacity improvements across the Companies sites by analyzing, designing, and implementing packaging components improvements.
Relationships
- The Sr. Engineer is expected to build a network of FDP (final drug product) expertise across the Companies commercial and clinical operations for packaging design, verification, and implementation. The position is expected to leverage this network in support of the design of packaging components, new product introductions, verification testing and troubleshooting/process improvements.
Authority
- Independently lead packaging development projects
- Lead packaging platform(s), act as FPTL (Final Product Technical Lead)
- Oversee and perform design and qualification activities
- Lead & coach junior packaging engineers
Qualifications & Experience:
Candidate should have a degree OR Master's degree & 3 years of directly related experience OR Bachelor's degree & 5 years of working in packaging development within a pharmaceutical/medical device company. Preferably we are seeking someone with tech transfer experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Tech transfer experience or packaging process operations validation experience.
- Proven track record of contributing to cross-functional projects.
- Strong teamwork, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with packaging development and the associated manufacturing process.
- Experience of working with packaging suppliers.
- Ability to work in a highly regulated and ever-changing industry.
