About the Role

Are you the kind of teacher who can turn a chilly morning into a bold learning experience? Do you believe that confidence, wellbeing and achievement often start outside the classroom-on footpaths, by campfires, on a climbing wall, or out in the fresh air with a plan and a steady hand?

We're always on the lookout for dedicated, caring people to add to our team. In this role, you'll play a big part in helping children and vulnerable adults live comfortable lives and achieve their potential. Your leadership will shape outdoor learning experiences that build skills for life-resilience, teamwork, communication, independence and a sense of belonging.

Key Responsibilities

As the Outdoor Education Lead Teacher, you will lead the planning, delivery and development of outdoor education and activity programmes across our provision. You'll ensure high-quality learning, safe practice and a calm, supportive environment where learners can grow.

  • Lead outdoor education provision: plan engaging sessions aligned to learner needs, education plans and developmental outcomes.
  • Deliver high-impact learning: teach practical outdoors activities that develop confidence, communication, problem-solving and independence.
  • Drive inclusion and progress: tailor learning for a range of needs, ensuring every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
  • Support safety and standards: promote a culture of safe practice, risk awareness and effective supervision at all times.
  • Develop the programme: continually improve activities, resources and pathways to ensure progression over time.
  • Lead by example: be a positive role model with consistent boundaries, warmth and professional integrity.
  • Work collaboratively: partner with colleagues to reinforce learning across the wider curriculum and residential routines.

About You

  • Strong experience in education, with a proven track record of effective teaching and thoughtful, well-structured planning.
  • An outdoor background gained through teaching, coaching, environmental education, adventure activities, or relevant qualifications, with confidence in creating meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom.
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where every learner can thrive.
  • Confident group leadership, with the ability to adapt plans quickly and remain calm, purposeful, and solution-focused under pressure.
  • A reflective and proactive approach, with a continual focus on improving learning outcomes, strengthening engagement, and helping learners reach their potential.
  • QTS or equivalent is required
  • Full UK driving licence
