Overview 
Contract Opportunity: Outage Planner
We are seeking an experienced Outage/Shutdown Planner to join a process plant on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex planned and unplanned shutdowns or maintenance outages. This role requires a proactive planner who can gather information from multiple stakeholders and build a comprehensive plan from scratch, down to an hour-by-hour schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed outage plans from scratch by gathering and validating information from engineering, operations, maintenance, and safety teams.
- Produce hour-by-hour outage schedules to ensure all activities are coordinated efficiently.
- Track and manage work packs, resources, materials, and spares required for the outage.
- Liaise with internal teams and external contractors to ensure alignment on priorities, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor progress during outages, update schedules, and provide timely reporting to management.
- Identify potential risks, conflicts, or bottlenecks and implement mitigation measures.
- Ensure all planning aligns with operational, safety, and environmental standards.
- Proven experience as an outage or shutdown planner in process, utilities, or industrial environments.
- Strong ability to gather information from multiple sources and build a detailed plan from scratch.
- Experience developing schedules down to an hour-by-hour level.
- Proficiency in planning tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities under time-sensitive conditions.
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams during complex outages.
- Background in maintenance or process plant operations.
- Certification in project or program management (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2) or relevant planning qualification.
