Job Description

OUT in Leeds (LGBTQ) Group Leader

People in Action

Salary: £13.21 per hour

Hours: 3.5 hours per week - 2.5 hours delivery on Tuesdays (6:30pm-9pm) + 1 flexible hour for planning and monitoring

Location: Leeds City Centre

Contract: Fixed-term, 3 years (until July 2028)

The OUT in Leeds group originally ran from 2018 to 2024 and filled a vital gap in local support. Its return will restore a safe and inclusive space for learning-disabled and autistic LGBTQ+ adults to connect, learn, and thrive.

The group will be delivered weekly in Leeds city centre by a small, dedicated team - one Group Leader and two Group Support Workers - offering a mix of social, creative, and educational activities shaped by members themselves.

The Role

As Group Leader, you'll plan and deliver an engaging programme of activities that support wellbeing, confidence, and inclusion. You'll lead a small team of staff and volunteers, ensuring sessions are safe, accessible, and empowering for all members.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Planning and delivering a 12-week activity programme with and for members.
  • Ensuring all activities are inclusive, accessible, and promote independence.
  • Leading and supporting staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality, person-centred sessions.
  • Creating and following risk assessments, and ensuring member safety at all times.
  • Managing petty cash and handling group funds responsibly.
  • Monitoring and reporting outcomes to meet funder requirements.
  • Maintaining clear communication with members, carers, and the Project Manager.
  • Supporting fundraising activities that help sustain the project long-term.
Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a values-driven, passionate, and proactive person who brings energy, empathy, and organisation to their work. Someone who values inclusion and equality and believes everyone deserves to feel seen and supported.

Deadline for applications: Mon 10th November 2025 (at 11:59pm)
