RoleThis role ensures the welfare of people, plant and equipment are managed correctly to deliver a best in class service to all customers in a cost effective way. The successful applicant will be responsible for executing all activities required to manage operational responsibilities across Inbound (receiving, put away / replenishment) and Outbound (pick, pack and ship) operations in the warehouse. They will assist in staffing, training and scheduling the warehouse team, while maintaining strict adherence to planning hours, inventory and productivity goals.
Key OutcomesShift Performance: allocate resources to ensure all key areas are manned sufficiently to deliver the operational performance required by the business. Provide hands on supervision for staff to maximise productivity and accuracy. Manage and drive hourly targets set in each area and report any exceptions to management. Effectively utilise Warehouse Management and Control Systems to monitor, manage and troubleshoot shift performance. Proactive decision making in relation to interpretation of warehouse performance data.
Safety Compliance: ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and best practices, creating a secure workspace for all warehouse staff. Ensure Quality Management and Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times. Keep time and attendance records accurate and up to date on a weekly basis. Supervise daily processes to ensure all KPI metrics are met or exceeded. Assist in training and developing the warehouse team. Monitor and enhance individual performance through training, coaching and mentoring. Monitor process and team performance and report on same. Take an active part in developing new processes to drive efficiency and productivity across the site. Ensure high standards of communication in all interactions in line with company dignity and respect at work policy. Ensure smooth and efficient handover of tasks with incoming Operations Supervisor. Must be available to work weekends.
Key Skills & Experiences- Experience in a similar position, ideally in FMCG.
- Proven experience managing large scale diverse teams in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, able to work at different levels and inside/outside operations.
- Strong communication skills; ability to deal with staff at all levels.
- Proven capability to implement operational improvements to enhance service and productivity.
- Experience in coaching and developing teams.
- Staff management, motivation and influencing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills, including experience with Warehouse Management Software, Excel and Word.
- Strong data analytical skills and ability to interpret data.
- In depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
