Oncology Quality Manager

Location: Limerick Cancer Centre

Job type: Permanent

The Limerick Cancer Centre is hiring an Oncology Quality Manager on a permanent, full time contract. The Oncology Quality Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management Programme within the oncology service. The role ensures compliance with national regulations, international standards (e.g. JCI), and best practice guidelines, supporting safe, effective, and patient-centred care. The Quality Manager will work closely with the wider UPMC Quality function, clinical and support teams and Senior leadership team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 1. Quality Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the OncologyQuality Management programme in line with national and internationalstandards.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, andprotocols are current, compliant, and accessible.
  • Ensure the integrity of document controlprocesses, including version control, review cycles, and approvals.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • JCI Accreditation Standards
  • National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP)requirements
  • Radiation protection regulations(EPA/HIQA as applicable)
  • Lead preparation for externalinspections, audits, and accreditation surveys.
  • Coordinate responses to audit findingsand regulatory requirements.
3. Risk Management
  • Oversee the departments Risk ManagementFramework, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation andmonitoring
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) andensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain the department risk register.
  • Promote a culture of safety,transparency, and continuous learning
4. Audit & Quality Improvement
  • Develop and deliver an annual auditprogramme.
  • Facilitate clinical audits in line withradiotherapy and oncology standards.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)and quality metrics.
  • Lead and support quality improvementinitiatives across the service.
5. Patient Safety & Experience
  • Ensure patient pathways are aligned withsafety and quality standards.
  • Monitor patient feedback, complaints, andcompliments.
  • Implement quality improvements based onpatient experience data.
  • Support compliance with safeguarding,patient rights and safe-care standards.
6. Training & Education
  • Provide training to staff on qualitysystems, accreditation standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support staff in understanding incidentreporting, audit processes, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Promote awareness of safety culture andcontinuous improvement.
7. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with RadiationOncologists, Physicists, Radiation Therapists (RTTs), Nursing,Administration teams and the wider UPMC Quality Function.
  • Participate in governance, risk, andmultidisciplinary meetings.
  • Support integration of quality practicesacross all Oncology workflows.
8. Data Management & Reporting
  • Analyse and report on quality and safetydata.
  • Produce regular reports for seniormanagement, governance committees, and external bodies.
  • Support data-driven decision-makingwithin the department.
Qualifications & Experience Skills essential to the post
  • Strong knowledge of Oncology workflowsand clinical processes
  • Expertise in quality management systemsand accreditation standards (e.g. JCI)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solvingskills
  • Strong communication and stakeholderengagement skills
  • High attention to detail andorganisational skills
  • Ability to lead change and drivecontinuous improvement
Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in a healthcare-related discipline(Radiotherapy, Nursing, Physics, or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Qualification in Quality Management /Patient Safety
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or quality improvementcertification
Experience
  • Minimum 5years' experience in a radiotherapy or oncology setting
Job Specific Competencies and Knowledge

Essential

  • Experiencein quality management, clinical audit, or governance
  • Knowledgeof regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Excellent IT skills: MSOffice skills to include MS Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable

  • Experiencewith JCI accreditation processes
  • Experiencemanaging audits and inspections
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate inservice development initiatives
  • Supportimplementation of new clinical pathways and workflows
  • Contribute tostrategic planning and service expansion

Salary: €70,000 - €90,000 per annum based on a 39 hour week
