Ocean Freight Operations Specialist

Overview

Busy ocean freight forwarder now seeks an experienced Ocean freight forwarder. Working in a team environment, your key responsibilities will include;

Responsibilities

• Providing full visibility and control of all sea freight orders/shipments.
• Ensure all responsibilities and activities are managed in accordance with established service levels, KPIs, and SOPs, and within agreed revenue and cost parameters.
• Ensure that all associated administrative requirements are complete and accurate.
• Enhance key business relationships across the organisation, both internally and externally.
• Proactively support and contribute to the achievement of departmental, branch, and company goals and objectives.
• End-to-end visibility across the supply chain, including suppliers, shipping lines, transportation carriers, ports, and third party logistics providers.
• Collaborative information sharing - sharing information and collaborating in real time with internal and external stakeholders.
• Early warning alerts and exception management - proactively identifying and resolving sea freight disruptions before they impact the customer's business.
• Strong administration skills ensuring quality across file opening and invoicing, customs brokerage coordination, system data entry, and management of In Transit Reports.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of recent experience in ocean freight forwarding.
• Demonstrated strong technical operational competence within sea freight operations.
• Accuracy in billing, file data entry, customs brokerage coordination, and general sea freight operations execution.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines.
• Ability to deliver key projects on time and in line with objectives.
• Analytical skills with a problem solving mindset and sound decision making ability in multifunctional environments.
• Flexibility to work across other operational functions in line with business demands.
• Strong IT skills.
• Strong communication skills with a customer and service orientation.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
