About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation operating within a safety-critical environment across the North of England. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join a well-established Occupational Health team, supporting the health, wellbeing, and fitness for work of a diverse workforce.
This is a full-time, on-site position based in and around the network locations of Sheffield, York, and Newcastle. The successful candidate will be required to travel across the network during working hours using rail services to support employees and operational sites as required.
The role offers the opportunity to work closely with managers, employees, Health & Safety professionals, and HR teams, providing expert occupational health guidance and clinical support across multiple locations.
Location & Travel Requirements
- Full-time, on-site role.
- Based across Sheffield, York, Newcastle, and surrounding network locations.
- Regular travel across the network is required during working hours.
- Rail travel will be provided as part of the role to facilitate site visits and occupational health support across the operational network.
- Flexibility to travel between locations is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional occupational health advice to managers and employees.
- Manage occupational health referrals and sickness absence cases.
- Conduct fitness for work assessments and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Support return-to-work planning and workplace adjustment programmes.
- Undertake case management for employees with both short and long-term health conditions.
- Deliver health surveillance and screening programmes where required.
- Conduct pre-employment health assessments and medical reviews.
- Carry out audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, ECGs, and other occupational health assessments as appropriate.
- Support drug and alcohol testing programmes in line with company procedures.
- Work collaboratively with Health & Safety teams to contribute to risk assessments and workplace health initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records.
- Prepare clear, concise reports and recommendations for managers and stakeholders.
- Deliver health promotion and wellbeing initiatives across the workforce.
