Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has ambitious plans to transform healthcare in North Manchester through the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) Redevelopment Programme, which will deliver a new hospital and health campus at the existing North Manchester General Hospital site.

This major investment will support the transformation of how we deliver our services at the North Manchester General Hospital site and create modern healthcare facilities that support world-class clinical care for our communities.

This role provides a unique opportunity to be part of one of the largest public sector health transformation programmes being delivered across Manchester.

The Business Support Manager role will be responsible for providing a dedicated Business Support function to the New Hospital Project alongside PA and diary management support to the Project Director and Workstream Leads. The role will assume responsibility for maintaining an effective and efficient business management function throughout all stages of delivery including the raising and processing orders; managing the workload of an administrative team; supporting the management of strategic meetings; and leading and supporting the general operational running of the New Hospital Project Team.

The Business Support Manager role will be responsible for providing a dedicated Business Support function to the New Hospital Project alongside PA and diary management support to the Project Director and Workstream Leads.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the implementation of effective financial management procedures.
  • Supporting the preparation of reports and the implementation of an effective PMO function.
  • Providing dedicated administrative support to Committees and Boards.
  • Developing and implementing effective office management and Project Team operating procedures.
  • Managing the Project Team administrative function.
  • Providing dedicated support to key personnel and project delivery workstreams.

Person specification
  • Relevant experience and/or qualifications equivalent to post graduate diploma level
  • Strong experience of managing diaries, arranging meetings, and taking accurate minutes
  • Experience of implementing digital project administration processes and procedures
  • Experience of managing staff and/or a team
  • Significant experience of working with senior managers and directors
  • Significant experience working at a senior administrative level
  • Knowledge and an understanding of technical design processes and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of Project Management processes
