Post: Public Health and Screening Project Manager

A key function within NHS Lothian's Screening Team, this project role focuses on improving the delivery, coordination, and consistency of antenatal screening services. The post holder will work closely with midwifery, laboratory, and administrative colleagues to ensure pathways meet national standards, and that systems are in place to support timely, equitable screening access for pregnant women and their families.
The role involves mapping and supporting operational processes, troubleshooting challenges with pathway delivery (e.g. late bookings, missed windows), and identifying practical service improvements - including work to identify and address trends in late booking to improve service design, better use of data, and enhanced support for those with additional needs.
While contributing to wider public health aims, the role is highly collaborative and delivery-focused, requiring close engagement with frontline maternity services and a working knowledge of NHS screening processes.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in programme delivery or quality improvement in healthcare settings, and will be confident working across professional and service boundaries to support practical, patient-centred improvements.
This Screening team sits within the Healthcare Public Health Division of NHS Lothian's Directorate of Public Health and Health Policy.
The directorate aims to improve and protect the health of people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland. We are seeking applicants with an understanding of health inequalities and experience of health improvement/ public health, project planning, management and implementation, in addition to well-developed partnership working and negotiation skills. Applicants should be educated to degree level in public health or a related subject.
