Network Engineer - Juniper Network Engineer (Juniper / Apstra / Mist) - Contract

Our client a large consultancy within the public sector are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with strong expertise in Juniper technologies, including Apstra and Mist, to support and enhance its enterprise network environment for a NHS central organisation within the data and research space. This is a contract role within a highly complex, mission-critical organisation delivering essential healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support, maintain, and develop the Trust's enterprise network infrastructure
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Juniper-based routing and switching environments
  • Work with Juniper Apstra for network automation, assurance, and data centre operations
  • Support Juniper Mist wireless and cloud-managed networking solutions
  • Provide operational support across LAN, WAN, data centre, and wireless networks
  • Participate in network upgrades, migrations, and transformation projects
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security aligned with NHS standards
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams, vendors, and third-party suppliers
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and network diagrams
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer in a large, enterprise-scale environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with Juniper technologies
  • Practical experience with Apstra and Mist
  • Solid background in Enterprise Routing & Switching
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a service-critical, regulated environment
Desirable:
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Juniper certifications (e.g. JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP)
  • Experience supporting network automation or modernisation initiatives
Additional Information:
  • This role is inside IR35
  • Appointment is subject to NHS pre-employment checks, including DBS
