Job DescriptionOur client is seeking an experienced Network & Server Administrator to join a small, collaborative IT team supporting approximately 200 users.
This is a hands-on infrastructure role with significant responsibility for key areas of the organisation s IT environment. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong technical capability, sound judgement and the ability to take ownership of complex infrastructure issues.
The role will focus primarily on server, virtualisation and network infrastructure, while also providing support across Microsoft 365, Citrix, end-user computing and business applications when required.
Regular attendance on-site in Dublin City Centre is required due to the nature of the infrastructure being supported, with some flexibility subject to operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Manage and support network infrastructure including Switches, Routers, Check Point Firewalls, VPNs, VLANs and wireless networks.
- Manage DNS and DHCP services.
- Support virtualised infrastructure, including Hyper-V.
- Support Citrix and remote access technologies.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues across Servers, storage, networking and cloud services.
- Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Entra ID and Teams.
- Assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations and technology improvement projects.
- Maintain secure and resilient infrastructure through patching, monitoring and security hardening.
- Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Work with third-party vendors and support partners to resolve incidents and deliver projects.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, network diagrams and operational procedures.
- Provide technical leadership and act as an escalation point for the wider IT team.
- Support business applications and end users where required.
- Participate in continuous improvement and infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Microsoft infrastructure administration role.
- Strong Windows Server administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
- Excellent understanding of network infrastructure, including Switches, Routers, Firewalls, VPNs and wireless technologies.
- Experience supporting virtualised environments, particularly Hyper-V.
- Microsoft 365 administration experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across infrastructure technologies.
- Good understanding of infrastructure security principles and best practices.
- Experience producing technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Citrix administration.
- Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
- Check Point/Firewall administration.
- PowerShell Scripting and automation.
- Storage, backup and disaster recovery.
- Experience working within public sector or regulated environments.
This is a key infrastructure position and the successful candidate will take responsibility for significant parts of the organisations IT infrastructure. Candidates should therefore be comfortable working independently, taking ownership and dealing with complex technical challenges.
Contract: 3 months
