Our Nurses are real life health care heroes and we are seeking compassionate people with experience of working in a hospital environment to join our integrated trust.This opportunity is for Nurses all across Somerset interested in haematology. Musgrove Park Hospital will be the main base with the option of cross cover service at Yeovil District Hospital.As a fully integrated trust, we can offer a collaborative approach to your career with us, meaning if you so choose, there would be opportunities to rotate across all sites including Myeloid, Lymphoma and Myeloma. This will ensure your skills and knowledge are as broad as they possibly can be.
You are the greatest investment we can make. We value our RGNs highly, so development and training within this role will be offered and prioritised. This will be Monday to Friday post. You will require good communication skills, a team work approach and be able provide a high standard of nursing care with the support of your team.

Main duties of the jobTo provide and maintain a high standard of evidence based, patient centred care. To demonstrate good interpersonal skills and to develop practical skills required within the speciality, whist reflecting the philosophy of care.To deliver patient care on a daily basis, using the systems in place in the department for a multi-disciplinary approach to patient-centred care delivery, which builds on the philosophy of greater involvement of patients and their relatives/carers by using the Trusts patient and public involvement strategy.Experienced Band 6 post holders will also provide effective clinical and managerial leadership of the department, in the absence of the senior members of the team, which empowers staff to deliver patient- centred, evidence based nursing care

Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Adult NurseBSc (Hons) Degree in adult nursing or working towards BSc (Hons) DegreePost graduate qualification in haematology or oncology.
- Teaching and Mentorship qualificationAdvance communication coursePhysical Examination and Clinical Reasoning ModuleNon medical prescribing qualificationPsychological Skills
- Minimum of 3 years post registration experience.Recent experience working with haematology patients in a clinical setting.Ward based or day unit or previous clinical nurse specialist.
- Experience of mentoring & teachingExperience of leading and implementing change
- In-depth, sound knowledge of haematology terminology, conditions, treatments and care required by haematology patients.Knowledge of relevant NHS legislations and policies that outline/govern haematological disorders and treatments.Basic understanding of the cancer pathway, targets, 2WW and Somerset Cancer Register
- Knowledge of the haematology MDT processes.Knowledge of current national, professional and patient issues.Knowledge of current research in haematology.Knowledge of Quality Assurance, audit and clinical governance.
