Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for participating in the provision of a quality, efficient, responsive, flexible and effective estates service, working as part of the Estates & Facilities Team. This post is part of the Small Works Team who provides maintenance services, both planned and reactive, for the properties belonging to the Trust. The Post Holder is expected to provide a comprehensive painting, decorating, carpet laying and general maintenance assistance service for all areas of the Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work appropriately to their core specialist skills and level of qualification.

The main activities of the role are painter; maintenance; reactive repairs; compliance monitoring and associated remedial work. Will perform work of routine and non-routine non-complex and complex nature, responsible for all repairs and routine planned maintenance activities as directed by management. Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures, taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Carry forward internal and external painting, and repair works to plastering and ceramic tiling in buildings and fabric including paper hanging, stencilling in line with manufacturer's recommendations, best practice and consummate with trained skills and experience.
  • Carry out defective item maintenance on the building fabric (internally and externally) in line with best practice, health and safety and consummate with the aim of returning the item to service as quickly as possible.
  • Carry out necessary decorating and maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep and to improve the overall look of the Trust.
  • Undertake rotational area painting duties along with reactive calls for add-hock reported defects, reporting to Facilities team.
  • Carry out routine painting and decorating on a program along with add-hock reactive maintenance calls.
  • Advise Team Managers of Health and Safety or maintenance issues, perceived or otherwise which may affect the safe operation of the building fabric and clinical services.
  • Assist the small works team across the full range of their duties and demonstrate their ability to work in a multi-task environment.
Person specification
  • Minimum 2 years experience.
  • NHS experience.
