Job Description
Minimum 2 Years' Mortgage Underwriting Experience Required We are looking for experienced Underwriters with a strong background in Buy-to-Let lending, although candidates with Residential and Commercial underwriting experience and broad lending knowledge will also be considered.This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing specialist lender where you will manage complex mortgage applications, work collaboratively across teams, and play a key role in delivering high-quality lending decisions.The Role as an Underwriter, you will assess and underwrite mortgage applications accurately, consistently, and in line with lending policy, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite. You will manage a varied pipeline of specialist lending cases while maintaining excellent service standards and building strong relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities 
- Underwrite mortgage applications in line with lending criteria and compliance standards
- Assess complex cases with sound judgement and strong attention to detail
- Interpret credit reports, financial statements, and supporting documentation
- Review a variety of specialist lending scenarios including:
- Buy-to-Let
- HMOs
- Multi-Unit Properties (MUPs)
- Expats & Foreign Nationals
- Limited Companies & SPVs
- Holiday Lets
- Provide clear lending decisions and escalate cases where required
- Manage and prioritise your own pipeline effectively
- Liaise with brokers, valuers, and internal departments to progress cases smoothly
- Support continuous improvement and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Experience underwriting specialist property types and complex cases
- Previous underwriting mandate experience
- Knowledge of specialist lending markets and regulatory requirements
