Job Description
How you'll help us live our purpose

We've been helping our members save for their future and buy their own home since 1875. Join us and you'll play a big role in helping us to put home ownership within reach of more people, generation after generation.

How you'll make a difference

In this role you will support the independent validation and oversight of the Society's financial and credit risk models and deterministic quantitative methods (DQMs), helping to ensure they are conceptually sound, appropriately implemented, and compliant with internal policies and external regulations. Working under the guidance of the Model Validation Lead and wider Prudential Risk team, the role will contribute to delivering high quality validation reviews, evidence based challenge, and clear reporting to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Deliver high quality validation reviews, evidence based challenge, and clear reporting to stakeholders.

What will you bring to the role?
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with an ability to structure problems and draw conclusions from data.
  • Experience using data and quantitative methods gained through university projects (e.g., dissertations, group projects, coursework) and an enthusiasm to apply these in a risk/model validation environment.
  • Programming and data handling skills in at least one of Python, SQL, SAS, R or similar (through study or personal projects): ability to learn new tools quickly.
  • Degree (or expected degree) in a numerate discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, economics, engineering, physics, computer science).
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical work to non technical audience and document work to a high standard.
Benefits
  • Hybrid working - 2 days per week in the office.
  • Annual bonus of up to 12%.
  • Matched pension contributions up to 10%.
  • 26 days holiday, plus bank holidays and holiday purchase scheme.
  • Colleague mortgage and saver products.
  • 2 days volunteering per year.
Equal Opportunities

We're committed to equal opportunities regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability or gender identity.

Eligibility and Sponsorship

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. Therefore, we are only able to consider applications from individuals who already have the right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship.
