Our Purpose:
  • To provide a professional cleaning services for libraries, museums, administrative buildings, public conveniences and schools within the county of Monmouthshire.
The Purpose of this Role:
  • To achieve and maintain a high standard of hygiene in line with the specification issued to the mobile hygiene operative.
Expectation and Outcomes of this Role:
  • To ensure the maintenance of a hygienic, functional environment that facilitates the effective conduct of Council Business.
Your responsibilities are to:
  • To follow the weekly, monthly and quarterly duties as listed on the TASK INSTRUCTION SHEETS, as required on each programmed visit.
  • To maintain site at an acceptable level and reorder as required via the supervisor.
  • Report faults to the supervisor at County Hall in Usk or in extreme emergencies the Manager or if after hours to the standby officer.
  • To ensure accurate records are kept of tasks undertaken on a weekly basis and sheets are returned to the Supervising Officer regularly.
  • The following tasks are to be carried out daily on each programmed visit:
    • Wash with clean water containing suitable cleansing agents and dry all hand basins, taps, sanitary fittings, tiles and mirrors (where appropriate).
    • Clean and sanitise all urinals, lavatory pans and toilet seats, leaving the latter dry.
    • Clean and sanitise as necessary all soiled areas of walls, doors or other finishes and remove superficial graffiti, leaving the latter in a dry condition.
    • Thoroughly sweep all floors.
    • Wash with clean water and suitable cleansing agents to remove excess moisture with clean mop so as to remove all dirt stains.
    • The floor must be left in a dry condition.
    • Replenish toilet rolls, disposable bags and soap (where provided) as necessary.
    • Clean accumulated rubbish from external paths and areas immediately adjoining, and where necessary sweep so as to leave in a tidy condition.
    • Wash all walls, ledges, sills, doors and fittings and dry polish.
    • Wash all internal windows.
    • Remove cobwebs at all levels.
    • To use signs provided for CLOSED CLEANING and SLIPPERY FLOOR/HAZARD.
    • To wear overalls and protective gloves at all times.
    • To adhere to HEALTH & SAFETY AND COSHH regulations as per booklet provided.
    • To report suspicious behaviour or vandalism to the appropriate authority.
  • If in any doubt you will contact your supervising officer for guidance.
  • Where a Council vehicle is provided, you will be expected to:
    • Ensure that daily vehicle checks are undertaken in relation to oil, tyres and water and that these are recorded accordingly.
    • Ensure that the vehicle is driven in an appropriate manner.
    • Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • To treat members of the public in a courteous manner and portray yourself as an Ambassador of Monmouthshire County Council.
