Mobile Catering Assistant

Location: Covering Birmingham and surrounding areas

Pay: £15.00 per hour

Hours: 25 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday Friday, 9:00am - 2:00pm

Contract: Permanent, Part Time

Requirements: Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle required due to the mobile nature of the role.

About the Role

As a Mobile Catering Assistant, you'll provide flexible support across our Birmingham school catering sites, stepping in to assist teams during periods of absence or additional operational need.

You'll support the day-to-day running of catering services, including food preparation, serving meals, using tills, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring customers receive a friendly and efficient service.

This role is ideal for someone with catering experience who enjoys variety and working as part of different teams.

What You'll Do
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle, as you will be required to travel between different Sodexo school sites across the Birmingham area.
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of food and beverages.
  • Support with basic food preparation tasks.
  • Serve meals to pupils, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Operate tills and handle customer transactions accurately.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen and dining areas.
  • Replenish food displays and service counters as required.
  • Follow food hygiene, allergen, and health and safety procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with different catering teams to maintain excellent service standards.

  • A positive, reliable, and flexible approach.
  • Previous catering, hospitality, or food service experience is desirable.
  • Comfortable travelling between different locations across Birmingham.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to different environments.
  • Experience using a till system is desirable.

Additional Information
  • Term Time Only
  • Equated Pay: This role works 38 weeks per year. Your salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments across 12 months, meaning you receive consistent pay throughout the year, including during school closure periods.
