Job Overview

This is a twelve-month secondment or fixed-term contract opportunity.

Are you an experienced Midwife passionate about continuity and eager to join our midwifery-led service as a Team Leader? If you're dynamic, motivational, visible, and driven to support maternity service transformation, this is your chance.

We seek a resilient individual capable of managing complex situations, well-organized and innovative, motivated to provide evidence-based care, promoting positive maternity experiences and increasing births in midwifery-led settings.

You will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective communication between midwifery-led and complex services. Working with lead midwives, the matron, and consultant midwife, you will lead a team to deliver the Better Births vision of Continuity of Care for all women.

Main Duties

The Team Leader will provide senior-level leadership and management, supporting care delivery and professional standards, ensuring alignment with Trust values and standards of care. Responsibilities include monitoring high standards of practice, fostering a positive environment, and contributing to service development initiatives.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Key responsibilities include maintaining high standards of midwifery care, supporting innovative approaches, ensuring accountability, providing care across settings, promoting normality and woman-centered care, managing risks, supporting education and mentorship, and contributing to continuous improvement and research.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Registered Midwife with valid NMC registration
  • Degree and MSc preferred
  • NMC Mentorship qualification
  • Ability to perform NIPE
  • Experience in community midwifery, managing complex cases, and implementing service changes
