An opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer - Measurement Development to join the Rolls Royce Defence Future Programmes team in Bristol.
The Global Combat Air Programme is a multinational initiative led by the United Kingdom, Japan, Italy to jointly develop a sixth-generation stealth fighter. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of manufacturing technology, creating, developing, and adapting manufacturing processes for the GCAP power and propulsion system.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering metrology capabilities across various novel engine components. You will collaborate closely with digital manufacturing colleagues, senior specialists, design, and manufacturing engineers to lead the development and validation of automated metrology programming using Model Based Definitions. This role offers a high-impact career opportunity with visibility across Rolls-Royce, as this is an emerging capability within the business.
You will ensure that new products are "Designed for Manufacture," working with stakeholders to ensure timely, robust inspection methods that are cost-effective and quality-focused.

Key Responsibilities:- Engage in Design for Manufacture to utilize Model Based Definition for automating measurement processes.
- Carry out measurement system analysis within Rolls-Royce and supply chain facilities.
- Lead the selection, acquisition, and commissioning of new verification equipment; drive continuous improvement activities.
- Contribute to global communities of practice, collaborating to develop standards and strategies in metrology and product verification.
- Qualified engineer with a degree or apprenticeship in engineering, with deep understanding of manufacturing measurement, preferably meeting Level 2 or above in NMSA standards.
- Experience creating digital measurement programs in software such as Polyworks, Zeiss Calypso, or Zeiss Inspect.
- High computer literacy, digital manufacturing experience, and familiarity with CAD software like Siemens NX.
- Strong technical background in manufacturing, design for manufacture, quality assurance, and product development methodologies such as APQP and PPAP.
To work for Rolls-Royce, you must hold a UK Security Check (SC) clearance without caveats. We support the application process for this clearance if needed. Due to the nature of work, UK nationality is required.
