Location: Spain
A leading global software investor, recently commencing operations in Spain, is seeking an experienced software investor/M&A professional to lead on all buy-side activity in the Iberian region.
With an experienced origination team in situ, the M&A Director will be expected to further develop the pipeline, fully appraise and diligence targets for strategic fit, execute transactions, and build a team capable of sourcing and executing software deals at pace.
The candidate will ideally be based in Madrid, however there is flexibility for the right candidate. Regular travel across the region is expected.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Full responsibility for running deal activity in the Iberian region.
- Hire and develop a team of experienced originators and investors
- Develop all M&A processes and controls to ensure a best-in-class approach to transaction management.
- Drive the origination of high calibre targets - leading software businesses with double digit organic growth, high customer retention rates, market leading products.
- Lead on all negotiations, pricing, deal structuring, etc.
- Conduct detailed and rigorous commercial due diligence into potential targets to ensure strategic fit, and that all acquired businesses add true value to the portfolio.
- Develop value creation plans to drive growth in acquired businesses, post-acquisition.
- Act as advisor to acquired businesses to help drive internal value creation and organic growth.
Candidate Profile:
- Significant prior experience of executing software deals, ideally in the Iberian region.
- Prior experience as a software investor, software/tech banker, software M&A Advisor, or software focused corporate development professional.
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Based in / a willingness to be based in the region.
- Proven ability to originate value creative transactions.
- The ability to deliver high quality transactions within a rapidly scaling & high-pressured environment.
- An ability to operate in a hands on manner within a small local team, adding value at all stages of the M&A cycle.
- An expert in negotiations and all aspects of deal structuring and execution.
- The natural gravitas and EQ to gain buy-in from potential targets in a highly competitive landscape.
- The ability to develop and nurture a small team of M&A and origination professionals.
