SEMH Teaching Assistant / Cover Supervisor

Full-Time Long-Term Opportunity

Tradewind Recruitment are looking for an experienced and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant / Cover Supervisor to work within a specialist educational setting supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role
  • Supporting students with a range of SEMH and mental health needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supervising classes and delivering pre-planned lessons
  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Helping young people re-engage with learning
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Using appropriate de-escalation strategies when situations become challenging
  • Providing consistent boundaries and expectations
  • Supporting students with anxiety, low confidence and other barriers to learning
  • Working closely with teaching, pastoral and safeguarding teams
  • Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment

You will ideally have a good understanding of mental health and how this can impact a young person's behaviour, relationships and ability to engage with education. The right candidate will be calm, resilient and empathetic while also being confident establishing clear and consistent boundaries.
