Medical Receptionist

Dove Valley Practice is pleased to invite applications for a Medical Receptionist to join our team. We are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic, with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine willingness to learn. You will be supported as you develop in the role and become a valued part of a collaborative and effective team.
This is a permanent position with a fixed rota of between 10 & 37 hours per week. Regular overtime is required between 7:45am and 6:30pm, Monday to Friday, dependent on business needs, and we will provide 2 to 4 weeks notice of extra shifts required.
Job responsibilities- Dealing with patients requests.
- Care navigation.
- Taking and processing requests for home visits.
- Taking requests for and issuing repeat prescriptions
- Explaining surgery protocols.
- Taking messages for other members of staff/colleagues.
- Collating and sorting new patient medical records prior to summarising.
- Filing medical records as necessary.
- Scanning hospital results/letters.
- Opening/securing GP consulting rooms, ensuring rooms are tidy and all PCs are closed down correctly.
- Ensuring adequate stocks of stationery, leaflets and forms.
- Ensuring doctors rooms are adequately supplied.
- Following initial training, the use of computerised medical records.
- General responsibility for overall appearance of reception area.
- Making of refreshments (tea/coffee etc.)
- Other tasks as appropriate to the role.
- Highly motivated and willing to attend training
- Awareness of accountability of own role and other roles within the Practice
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to work with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
- Prepared to work overtime/flexible hours in accordance with the practice needs
- Previous experience of working in a primary care or NHS setting.
- Experience of working with Microsoft Office packages
- Experience of working with the SystmOne or EMIS clinical computer systems
