Job Description
Main duties of the job 
- Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
- Processing telephone requests for appointments, visits or telephone consultations, ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Filing and retrieving paperwork
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
- Computer data entry, processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, team members and associated healthcare agencies
- Clearing and re stacking consulting rooms as required
- Providing clerical assistance to practice staff (word/data processing, filing, photocopying, scanning)
- Ordering, re ordering and monitoring stationery and other supplies
- Dealing with clinical waste
- Providing refreshments for staff and visitors and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy
- Keeping the reception area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and obstruction free
- Processing referrals
- Facilitating effective communication between patients, primary/secondary care teams and other healthcare agencies
- Other duties requested by the Reception Manager or Practice Manager as required
- Previous GP Practice Medical Receptionist Experience - Essential
- Medical System (SystmOne) or EMIS Experience - Essential
- Medical Receptionist experience of at least 1 year - Required
