About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Affairs professional to join our fast-growing Innovative Brands division within a leading international pharmaceutical company. This field-based role is focused on the Benelux and Nordic regions and offers an exciting opportunity to take ownership of medical strategy in dermato-oncology, supporting current and upcoming launches across multiple markets. The MM Benelux and Nordics is responsible for the field-based execution of the Medical Affairs strategy and Medical projects but also provides Medical Affairs support to the business of which a demonstrable affinity with seeing commercial opportunities is required. Professional English fluency is required. Preferably, you live in Netherlands, and ability to speak French and Dutch, or a Nordic language will be a strong plus. You will report to the Eu Lead Medical Managers and work together with the Head Benelux/Nordics, local teams as with the international MM team. The European offices are in Amsterdam.
Major tasks & responsibilities
- Development of the Medical Plan for the region Benelux/Nordics and execution of the Medical Affairs plan regarding medical scientific projects
- Identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with country KOLs, as well as other influencers and leaders of the scientific and healthcare community, utilizing scientific and medical evidence-based information
- Strategically prepare and support the development, launch of products through scientific exchange. Our first product is Odomzo (sonidegib) indicated for locally advanced basal cell carcinoma
- Support pre-launch and post-launch activities by providing deep scientific insights and strategic input to commercial and access teams for pipeline products in dermato-oncology
- Develop links with and support national, regional and local networks in Derma-oncology as well as in future potential TAs
- Respond to requests for investigator-initiated trials
- Ensure the appropriate dissemination of clinical and scientific information regarding marketed and pipeline compounds in a timely, compliant and ethical manner
- Provide scientific input for local medical events, educational initiatives, and congress participation.
- Serve as a key field-based medical expert and regional resource for internal colleagues.
- Communicate the latest emerging data to identified experts, response to unsolicited healthcare professional medical inquiries
Key Performance Indicators/result areas
- Awareness level of medical treatment with sonidegib among treating Derma-oncologists in country and among national Derma-oncologist KOL community
- National Peer-to-peer program planning and implementation
- Setting up and successfully lead local engagement plan
- Planning and implementing national symposia (stand alone or within relevant congresses)
- Local medical publications
- Scientific presentations in hospitals
- Prepare prioritized target list
- Number of meetings within target
- Contribution to successful product launches and lifecycle support.
- Execution of local medical plans and alignment with regional dermato-oncology strategy.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills
Education Qualifications (Graduate- Post Graduate)
- Mandatory - (bio) medical (scientific) academic degree
- Desirable: Advanced degree in a biomedical or scientific field (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent).
- Mandatory - Driver's license
Work experience
- Mandatory - Minimum of 3 years of MSL experience in the innovative pharmaceutical industry, preferably in dermato-oncology, oncology, or dermatology.
- Based in Belgium or the Netherlands, with frequent travel across Benelux and Nordic countries.
- Native or fluent English is required; knowledge of Dutch, French, or a Nordic language is a plus.
- At least one year experience in a commercial function within the innovative pharmaceutical industry
