Our organisation was established in March 2023, further to the provisions of the Online Safety and Media Regulation Act 2022. As the independent media regulator, Coimisiún na Meán is responsible for regulating broadcasters, video-on-demand providers and online platforms established in Ireland. Role Purpose
This position offers the opportunity to make an impact in Ireland's media landscape by managing significant public-funding schemes that support high-quality Irish media content. The successful candidate will operate and manage key media funding schemes, ensuring they run smoothly, on time and in line with guidelines. The role will include coordination of assessment, oversight of funding contracting, and provide guidance to applicants to support successful programme delivery. Management duties include support and leadership of a small agile team, while identifying opportunities to improve processes and make the funding schemes more effective and efficient.
About the Team
The Funding Team in Coimisiún na Meán leads the development and delivery of national media funding schemes that support the production of high-quality, culturally significant public-interest broadcast content. The team operates within the Media Landscape division and is responsible for designing funding rounds, managing assessment processes, ensuring strong governance and compliance, and engaging with stakeholders across the media sector. The team delivers schemes such as Sound & Vision, the Archiving Scheme, and the Shared Island Media Fund, ensuring the fair, transparent, and timely allocation of public funding to strengthen the sustainability and diversity of Ireland's media landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with other Funding Managers (HEOs) to deliver and administer assigned media funding schemes, ensuring programmes operate in line with objectives, timelines, and governance requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction to a small team of Executive Officers (EOs) and Clerical Officers (COs), supporting their development and ensuring effective performance.
- Coordinate and manage assessment panels, including preparing documentation, scheduling meetings, and overseeing decision-making processes.
- Oversee contracting for successful applicants, ensuring compliance with legal and organisational requirements.
- Engage with external stakeholders, particularly scheme applicants, to provide guidance and support and facilitate smooth scheme delivery.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including legal, communications and procurement functions, to support alignment and effective programme administration.
- Review schemes and operational processes on an ongoing basis, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency, transparency and impact.
About You Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
- Experience in audiovisual, audio, scripted editorial, production, or development.
- Understanding of Irish media funding structures, including schemes such as those administered by Coimisiún na Meán.
- Knowledge of the legal and contractual requirements associated with public funding.
- Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, including documentation and workflow management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Experience working with public funding bodies, broadcasters, or independent producers.
- Knowledge of project financing, budgeting, and scheduling for television and/or radio productions.
- Experience contracting or administering public funding.
- Irish language proficiency or experience supporting Irish-language or culturally diverse content.
Key Information
- This position is offered on a Permanent basis.
- Annual Leave: 29 days per annum
- The role will be a hybrid role combining home and office working. Our current hybrid policy is 2 days in the office.
- Our office is located at One Shelbourne Buildings, Shelbourne Road, Dublin 4, D04 NP20.
- This position is graded at the Higher Executive Officer scale.
- Successful candidates will be appointed on the first point of the scale.
Applicants must be eligible to work in Ireland and must reside in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.
