Job Description
About the Role

We're looking for a mechanically minded estimator to join our dynamic team. You might already be an estimator with a mechanical bias, or a plumber or mechanical engineer with strong technical knowledge who's ready to move off the tools and into estimating. If you're keen to learn and want a role with genuine career progression, we'd love to hear from you. You'll work on a diverse range of projects, gaining exposure to different sectors, system types and project sizes, with support from experienced colleagues as you develop your skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing accurate, competitive estimates and tenders for mechanical services projects
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents to produce material and labour take-offs
  • Obtaining and comparing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Identifying risks, clarifications and opportunities for value engineering
  • Working closely with the wider estimating, commercial and operations teams
  • Helping prepare tender submissions and supporting documentation
  • Keeping cost data and pricing information up to date
About You

Essential:

  • Strong mechanical knowledge, gained as an estimator, plumber, mechanical engineer or in a similar role
  • Good IT skills, including confidence with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Keen to learn, develop and progress your career

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous estimating experience
  • Experience with estimating or take-off software
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ, HNC/HND or degree in a mechanical or building services discipline)
What We Offer
  • The chance to join a supportive, dynamic team
  • Full training and mentoring for those new to estimating
  • Variety across a wide range of projects
  • Clear opportunities for career progression
  • Competitive salary
  • Benefits - pension, generous holiday allowance, flexibility, hybrid working, further education
