Job OverviewWe are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design of test rigs for our submarine projects at Rolls-Royce. The role involves designing new multi-million-pound test rigs and modifying existing ones, primarily located at our Engineering Test Laboratory in Derby.

Rolls-Royce's nuclear business leads in propulsion system design for the Royal Navy's submarines, managing plant design, safety, manufacture, performance, and support.
Responsibilities- Design and develop test rigs, including bespoke hot and pressurized water rigs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, internal resources, external partners, and suppliers.
- Ensure designs meet safety, performance, and qualification standards.
- Experience in designing complex mechanical and fluid systems, ideally in regulated industries like aerospace, nuclear, or chemical.
- Proficiency in creating detailed drawings, including GD&T.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, safety standards, and design tools such as Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
