What you'll be doing:

1. Conducting ship trials and surveys and communicating with customers and suppliers
2. Carrying out investigations into operational problems or developments, developing, and preparing solutions, individually or as a member of a team
3. Supporting the development of best practices to increase the capability and performance of tools and processes
4. Producing special layouts, detailed parts lists, and inventories through AutoCAD design

Your skills and experiences:

1. AutoCAD design experience with the ability to produce detailed manufacturing drawings
2. An understanding of detailed system and technical engineering drawings, including manufacturing drawings
3. Knowledge of ship system engineering drawings, such as diagrammatic and piping isometrics, as well as ship systems materials and equipment symbols
4. In-depth knowledge of maritime warship systems, including fluid-based and mechanical systems, capable of performing basic pressure loss and flow calculations for pipe sizing
5. Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes
6. Ship experience (build or in-service) with an understanding of RN ship mechanical systems
7. Understanding of internal (surface ships) and external (MoD and industry) customer standards and procedures

Design Services Team:

Design Services is the BAE Systems Maritime 'in-service' technical support team located within Portsmouth Naval Base. We employ approximately 180 personnel across disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical & Combat Systems (ECS), Structures / Outfit (S&O), and HVAC, creating modification design packages and reports for installation and integration on legacy warships. Our team includes safety specialists and naval architects, with diverse engineering and educational backgrounds.
