What you'll be doing:- Conducting ship trials and surveys and communicating with customers and suppliers
- Carrying out investigations into operational problems or developments, developing, and preparing solutions, individually or as a member of a team
- Supporting the development of best practices to increase the capability and performance of tools and processes
- Producing special layouts, detailed parts lists, and inventories through AutoCAD design
- AutoCAD design experience with the ability to produce detailed manufacturing drawings
- An understanding of detailed system and technical engineering drawings, including manufacturing drawings
- Knowledge of ship system engineering drawings, such as diagrammatic and piping isometrics, as well as ship systems materials and equipment symbols
- In-depth knowledge of maritime warship systems, including fluid-based and mechanical systems, capable of performing basic pressure loss and flow calculations for pipe sizing
- Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes
- Ship experience (build or in-service) with an understanding of RN ship mechanical systems
- Understanding of internal (surface ships) and external (MoD and industry) customer standards and procedures

Design Services Team:Design Services is the BAE Systems Maritime 'in-service' technical support team located within Portsmouth Naval Base. We employ approximately 180 personnel across disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical & Combat Systems (ECS), Structures / Outfit (S&O), and HVAC, creating modification design packages and reports for installation and integration on legacy warships. Our team includes safety specialists and naval architects, with diverse engineering and educational backgrounds.
