Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Contracts Manager to join our Engineering Services team based in Bolton.

The main purpose of the role is to have overall responsibility for multiple engineering services projects, reporting on a regular and routine basis to the Head of Operations in delivering a consistent service safely, on time, quality and cost, ensuring client's expectations are met in full and contract performance targets achieved.

What you'll do:
  • Ensure all works comply with required standards, legislation, and company policies and procedures.
  • Support the Head of Operations in delivering projects safely, on time, and profitably.
  • Regularly visit sites and coordinate full installation and post-construction activities to ensure successful completion.
  • Lead health, safety, environmental and quality (SHEQ) compliance, including developing Construction Phase H&S Plans, RAMS, and conducting safety audits.
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across all contracts.
  • Manage programmes by converting tender programmes into construction programmes and continuously monitoring progress.
  • Oversee operating processes and resource allocation to maximise efficiency and meet profit plans.
  • Maintain financial control of projects, monitor expenditure, and support delivery of the Business Unit's profit targets.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and the supply chain to ensure requirements are met and strong working relationships are maintained.
  • Support site teams and bid teams through leadership, training, reporting, contractual awareness, risk evaluation, and value engineering initiatives.
Have you got what it takes:
  • Time served in related engineering trade.
  • Proven experience in contracts management working as the principal contractor.
  • Commercially astute with experience in managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within project timelines and meet them.
  • Up to date relevant knowledge of legislation.
  • Experience in relevant sector.
  • Up to date relevant knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
