Job Description

"Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer ready to take the next step in your Building Services career?"

We're working with a growing, design-led building services consultancy based in Oxford who are looking to strengthen their team with a Mechanical Design Engineer who can hit the ground running. The Oxford office is led by two hands-on Directors with a strong pipeline of projects across higher education, laboratories, renewables, decarbonisation, and BMS refurbishments.

They're not your typical consultancy. They give their engineers the time and space to engineer, supported by CAD specialists. They've tripled their income over the last six months and offer genuine opportunities for fast-tracked progression based on merit, not tenure.

Why Join This Team?

Join a business growing at pace, where talent is recognised and promoted quickly
Work on exciting and meaningful projects including university campuses, labs, BMS upgrades, and decarbonisation
A healthy work/life balance: enjoy a 9-day fortnight, hybrid working and a generous holiday package (25 days + 3 days at Christmas + your birthday off)
Workplace pension and Vitality private healthcare included
Collaborative, low-ego culture where engineers are empowered to take ownership of their designs

Key Responsibilities:

Take ownership of mechanical designs from RIBA Stage 1 through to Stage 4 and beyond
Translate briefs into high-quality design solutions with minimal supervision
Collaborate with other M&E engineers, CAD technicians, and external stakeholders as needed
Support junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of internal standards
Get involved in sustainability-led schemes including low-carbon solutions and retrofit projects

What They're Looking For:

Around 2-4 years' experience in mechanical design within a building services consultancy
Solid understanding of RIBA design stages, particularly stages 1-4
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your workload
Ambition to develop technically and professionally, including client-facing skills over time
IES experience is a plus, but not essential
Ideally degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
