Your New CompanyHays Education is proud to be working on behalf of a small, specialist SEMH school located in Macclesfield, Cheshire. This unique setting supports a small cohort of secondary-aged pupils who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, often alongside additional learning difficulties or behavioural challenges. The school provides a highly personalised and therapeutic approach to education, with a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, resilience, and re-engagement with learning. With class sizes typically no larger than 6-8 pupils, staff are able to build strong, trusting relationships and deliver tailored support that meets each student's individual needs.The school has a close-knit, supportive team and a calm, structured environment that prioritises consistency, care, and communication.
Your New JobWe are seeking a qualified and passionate Maths Teacher to join the school on a full-time basis, starting as soon as possible. This is a long-term role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. You will:

  • Deliver Maths lessons to small groups of KS3 and KS4 pupils, many of whom are working below age-related expectations
  • Differentiate content to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities
  • Use creative and practical approaches to engage students who may have had disrupted educational experiences
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff to support pupils' academic and emotional development
  • Contribute to a positive, trauma-informed school culture that values every learner
What You'll Need to SucceedTo be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
  • Experience teaching Maths at secondary level (KS3 and KS4)
  • A strong understanding of SEMH and inclusive teaching practices
  • Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, empathetic, and flexible approach to teaching in a specialist setting
