Maternity Assessment Unit Manager

This role is to provide leadership, guidance and managerial support to Maternity Assessment Area.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference to the care and experience for service users on the maternity assessment area.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a wealth of experience in all areas. They will be a strong leader with experience in managing a diverse team.

Please note, this position is a 12 month fixed month contract, however secondments will be considered.

The midwife will participate in high quality care for women and their families, also providing mentorship and professional support to enable students and maternity support workers to do the same.

The midwife will work within their sphere of practice in accordance with NMC codes of practice and professional guidelines.

Main duties of the job

The Ward Manager/Midwife has continuing 24 hour responsibility for the management of the clinical area including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation.

The Ward manager/Midwife will facilitate innovative and evidence based nursing/midwifery practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.

The Ward manager/Midwife will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally and achieve their maximum potential.

The Ward manager/Midwife will liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team and facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care. The Ward manager /Midwife will report directly to the Matron.
