About the role

We have exciting opportunities for Masterplanners / Urban Designers at multiple levels to join our growing Urban Design team in our Midlands office on a permanent basis.
With a diverse and expanding project portfolio, we're looking for talented designers ranging from Graduate level through to Associate level to work on high-profile, complex, and engaging projects.

Whether you're early in your career or a seasoned urban design professional, we're interested in hearing from individuals passionate about delivering high-quality, creative, and deliverable design solutions.

Requirements

Dependent on your experience level, your role may include:

• Supporting or leading on medium to very large-scale residential and mixed-use masterplans for public and private sector clients.
• Contributing to or managing multi-disciplinary projects, working alongside in-house teams including landscape, architecture, and planning.
• Preparing and/or contributing to tender submissions, bids, and client presentations.
• Conducting site, context, and character appraisals to inform design proposals.
• Developing masterplan drawings, design strategies, detailed layouts, and illustrations.
• Producing or supporting the preparation of Design Codes, Design and Access Statements, and graphic material.
• Participating in or facilitating design workshops, public exhibitions, and community engagement activities.
• (For more senior roles) Project management, client liaison, business development, and mentoring junior team members.

What We're Looking For:

We welcome applications from candidates at a range of career stages. The ideal candidate will have:

For Graduate / Junior Urban Designers:
• A postgraduate qualification in Urban Design (PG Dip or Masters), ideally with an undergraduate degree in Architecture, Planning, or a related discipline.
• A strong design portfolio demonstrating creative and contextual thinking.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and/or 3D modelling tools.
• Excellent communication and teamworking skills.

For Mid-Level to Senior Urban Designers:
• Proven experience working on UK-based residential and mixed-use masterplans.
• Strong project and time management skills, with a commercially aware approach.
• Ability to manage or mentor junior staff and liaise directly with clients.
• Confidence in producing and presenting design proposals, reports, and public consultation material.
• Experience in project or package management on multi-disciplinary projects.

For Associate-Level Candidates:
• A strong track record of leading significant urban design and masterplanning projects.
• Business development skills and a network of industry contacts.
• Experience managing project teams, client accounts, and contributing to strategic business planning.

Additional requirements (all levels):
• A passion for delivering creative, contextual, and sustainable design solutions.
• Excellent graphic and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
