Role Profile

The Maritime Risk Analyst is a subject matter expert on the shipping industry with particular knowledge on sanctions risk, security and geopolitical issues

As well as producing content that provides meaningful insights for Lloyd's List they will also be a confident speaker providing expertise in direct client presentations, webinars, podcasts and at third party events, when required.

This is a full-time permanent reporting to the Senior Risk & Compliance Analyst and will work collaboratively with the global editorial team and other peers.

This role is permanent and offers balanced working with 2-3 days a week in our London or New York office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilise primarily LLI data and your own subject matter knowledge to create authoritative, data-led analysis across a variety of forms for publication on Lloyd's List and for use in client meetings, panel discussions, white papers, podcasts, marketing content and more
  • Support other editorial colleagues in creating more data-led analysis within core areas of focus, as well as mentoring and training where required to raise knowledge and expertise within the team
  • Work with the Lloyd's List Senior Risk & Compliance Analyst on weekly, monthly and annual analysis content, long form reports and commentary across a variety of channels, including podcasts, as well as utilising your expertise to enhance the knowledge of the editorial team
  • Work directly with the data team to identify and resolve data quality issues, including vessel risk lists and improving products where collaboration is required, and identify opportunities to showcase expertise and knowledge from the data team in Lloyd's List content
  • Deliver direct client presentations to Lloyd's List enterprise account subscribers, in coordination with the relevant account managers, and clients/prospects of key commercial interest for Lloyd's List Intelligence
  • Work closely with colleagues in editorial, account managers, data, product and other commercial functions to identify areas for your knowledge and expertise to benefit the growth of the business, delivering appropriate training if necessary
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for product development or new business opportunities based on your close connection to the industry and client conversations
  • Provide in-person briefings, presentations and Q&As on key topical issues related to maritime risk to internal stakeholders as well as targeted external clients and prospects, when required
  • Be an ambassador for Lloyd's List Intelligence, using your knowledge and expertise to always represent the brand and business positively at external events and on social media
  • Work directly or indirectly with our marketing team and PR partner to identify and create stories and information relevant to risk and compliance that will find a wider audience in third party media or for the LLI marketing site, and to provide analysis and context to help with this process, when required
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • At least 2 years of experience in sanctions advisory, investigations, or governance work.
  • Investigative research experience with a focus on sanctions compliance; familiarity with Seasearcher or other maritime databases is a plus.
  • Experience presenting information and expert insights to audiences either online or in-person
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritise tasks daily and meet tight deadlines.
  • High proficiency in written and verbal English.
  • A team player with management experience who can work collaboratively across the organisation.
  • Advanced communication skills to engage with both colleagues and industry C-suite executives.
  • Proficiency in MS office suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of content management systems such as Sitecore and data visualisation tools such as Infogram
  • Familiarity with Seasearcher or other maritime databases
  • Experience working for a global company
  • Proficiency in an additional language
