Job Description

Marine Designer - Contract (6 Months)

Surrey £52 per hour Outside IR35 Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days remote)

RHL Recruitment, working with a leading oil and gas EPC contractor, who are seeking two experienced Senior Marine Designers to join a high-profile offshore project, on an initial 6-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a dynamic Marine Team, supporting the delivery of complex offshore design scopes while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across global offices.

The Role

As a Marine Designer, you will:

  • Support and lead within the Marine Team

  • Liaise closely with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors

  • Coordinate with global project teams to deliver work within agreed timelines and budgets

  • Provide technical guidance and mentor Junior designers

  • Manage and oversee remote design teams

  • Develop project-specific job notes, guides, and training materials to ensure consistent deliverable's

  • Organise team schedules and allocate resources to meet project milestones

  • Break down project scopes to drawing level and estimate resource requirements

  • Work effectively in a hybrid office based environment

Requirements
  • Marine & Structural Designer with formal qualification and/or significant on-the-job training

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in marine design

  • Strong proficiency in Aveva Marine

  • Demonstrable leadership experience managing remote teams

  • Ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to urgent issues

  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Comfortable working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team

  • Willing and able to work 3 days per week in the Surrey office

Contract Details
  • Rate: £52 per hour

  • IR35 Status: Outside IR35

  • Duration: 6 months (initial)

  • Location: Surrey (Hybrid working model)
