Job Description

Marie Curie is the UK's leading end of life charity. We are the largest non NHS provider of end of life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end of life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone ends with the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they're likely to die from.

As a Band 5 Registered Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in delivering compassionate and effective care to a diverse patient group. You will be involved in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans, and work closely with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure that the highest standards of care are maintained at all times.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing high quality, evidence based nursing care to patients admitted to the IPU.
  • Monitoring, assessing, and documenting patient conditions and progress.
  • Administering medication and treatments safely and accurately, in accordance with NMC guidelines and local policies.
  • Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient centred care plans.
  • Promoting dignity, respect, and compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Supporting patient and family education, advocacy, and involvement in care decisions.
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control.
  • Taking appropriate action in emergencies, following protocols and seeking senior support as required.
  • Engaging in regular supervision, training, and reflective practice to support your professional development.
What we're looking for:
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nurse (Level 1).
  • Recent experience in an acute care, community or specialist inpatient setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion in healthcare.
