Job Description

World Class Defence Organisation based in Bolton is looking to recruit a Manufacturing Project Manager / Bid Lead on an initial 12 month contract. The role is hybrid: 2 days per week onsite and remaining days working from home.

Rate: £33 per hour

Location: Bolton

Working hours: 37 hours per week
Overtime compensation: Hours over 37 will be paid at 'time and a quarter'

Duration: 12 months (initially, with the potential for ongoing and long term work)

IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Responsibilities
  • Generate competitive Manufacturing Bids for Industrial Transfer packages, ensuring compliance with all business and commercial criteria.
  • Deliver Industrial Transfer projects or sub projects, meeting agreed time, budget, and quality targets; review progress and intervene as necessary.
  • Lead the Manufacturing Offload Process, supporting Manufacturing Functions and project teams in identifying Offload opportunities and suitable suppliers.
  • Generate Business Cases to support Offload Opportunities and ensure governance is adhered to.
  • Implement Manufacturing Industrial Policy/Strategy, aligning it with New Business Pipelines and Technology Roadmaps.
  • Manage stakeholder interfaces, including internal customers, and report accurately on all aspects of project performance.
  • Support the New Business Team in identifying new opportunities and developing approaches to win business.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining and modifying manufacturing processes and procedures in line with relevant standards and best practice.
  • Collect, summarise and present information or data, carrying out predefined analyses for decision making.
  • Actively engage in Functional & Strategic Change activities, supporting best practice and functional excellence.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with internal customers and subcontractors.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Proven experience as Project Manager delivering fixed cost programmes of significant value within a matrix organisation, preferably in an engineering or production environment.
  • Experience communicating at a high level with key stakeholders and influencing outcomes in complex situations.
  • Experience applying Project Management skills on the assistant level in a relevant business environment.
  • Experience working on complex bids and generating costed proposals, demonstrating a track record of accomplishment and commercial acumen.
  • Commercially astute, able to use cost models to produce detailed costings for direct and indirect manufacturing costs.
  • Strong presentation skills - capable of preparing bid packs or cost brochures in PowerPoint and presenting to Senior Management for approval.
  • Ability to articulate costing approaches, collating evidence for audit purposes.
  • Ensures manufacturing stakeholders are involved throughout the bid data lifecycle and bids are delivered competitively and compliantly.
  • Maintains effective process governance, ensuring projects adhere to all policies and procedures while fostering best practice sharing.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills, with experience working within multi functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive approach.
