Job overviewHuddersfield Pharmacy Specials (HPS) is an NHS hosted Specials manufacturing unit. Our mission is to provide high quality, affordable specials throughout the UK to both Primary and Secondary Care. HPS manufactures a wide range of products including dermatological, oral, and topical liquids, infusion fluids and ampoules, and offers bespoke medicines packaging and labelling. The facility holds MHRA Manufacturer Licences and operates under cGMP.
Responsibilities- Perform garment change activities into specialised full body clean room garments.
- Prepare, fill and/or repackage a wide range of non sterile medicines and other products.
- View, inspect and label manufactured products.
- Disassemble, clean and re assemble various manufacturing and filling equipment.
- Print labels and assemble batch documentation for products manufactured.
- Accurately complete records for all activities on the appropriate documentation such as batch manufacturing records, cleaning logs, equipment logs, environmental monitoring forms, etc.
- Assist with corrective and preventive actions arising from QIRs and QERs within agreed time frames.
- Assist with remedial actions arising from regulatory inspections (MHRA) and internal audits.
- Assemble and transport raw materials, components and consumables required for production.
- Handle and move goods and equipment (maximum weight 25 kg) between storage areas and work areas.
- Perform the role's physical demands including frequent light to moderate, long periods of effort and occasional intense effort in cleanroom areas wearing restrictive garments.
- Assist with the training and demonstration of duties to new and existing HPS employees.
- Perform specialised cleaning of the production area or other pharmacy areas as necessary to cover sickness, leave and absence of specialised cleaning operatives.
- Remove rubbish, pharmaceutical, clinical and other waste materials to designated sites within the hospital.
- Transport manufactured batches to the finished goods store or bond store as appropriate, ensuring documentation and/or samples are taken to Quality Control.
- Follow Trust policies and HPS SOPs, liaise with Section Heads, prioritize workload, report damage or faulty equipment, report health and safety issues, report quality deviations, comply with Health and Safety and COSHH regulations, assist with equipment maintenance, maintain appropriate stock levels and records, and participate in the Trust Appraisal Programme.
- 3 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 4 (C) or above including English language and mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability to work within set timeframes and procedures.
- Completion of in house training covering Good Manufacturing Practice, specialised cleaning of manufacturing areas, COSHH, Health and Safety Training, Lifting and Handling Training, and Trust based computer training system.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to understand and follow written procedures.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience working within a pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing facility or dispensing pharmacy.
- Understanding of regulator (MHRA) standards relating to manufacturing (GMP).
