Job Description

Provides support to the manufacturing organization to facilitate efficient operations within the production area, optimizes existing processes, and ensures that production goals are met. Monitors equipment, machines and tools, addressing issues causing non conforming products, low yields, or product quality problems. Interfaces with quality and R&D teams to integrate new products or processes into the existing manufacturing area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes for current and next generation programmes.
  • Supports achievement of the strategic goals and objectives of the company.
  • Prepares reports, publishes findings, and delivers presentations to communicate results.
  • Analyses and resolves problems ranging from basic engineering issues to complex challenges requiring innovative or breakthrough technological solutions.
  • Understands engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices, and techniques.
  • Develops specialised expertise to become a recognised authority in a specific area and applies this knowledge in leadership roles within the company.
  • Incorporates business policies and procedures into task completion.
  • Understands organisational and customer needs, the business cycle, and emerging technology trends.
  • Cultivates internal and external networks required to complete tasks.
  • Acts as a resource in selecting, orienting, and training new engineers and employees.
  • May lead project teams, determining goals and objectives.
  • Mentors employees by sharing technical expertise and providing guidance.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers across functional areas.
  • Serves as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretation and advice on significant matters.
  • Acts as a spokesperson with customers regarding current and future business unit capabilities.
  • Participates in validation activities.
  • May provide input, write protocols/reports, or manage execution of validation tasks.
Education & Job Skills
  • Experience / Education: 4+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. NFQ Level 7 (full credits) qualification in a relevant discipline or higher.
  • Technical / Business Knowledge: Working technical knowledge with an understanding of relevant concepts, practices, and procedures; general understanding of business unit or group functions; work performed within a quality system environment.
  • Cognitive Skills: Works on problems of moderate to high complexity requiring analysis of various identifiable factors; exercises judgement within defined procedures to determine appropriate actions; possesses broad knowledge of technical alternatives and understands their impact on system environments.
  • Influence / Leadership: Develops and maintains a wide internal network and begins expanding external networks; may lead project teams of varying scope; provides guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff; influence is primarily at peer level and occasionally at first level management.
  • Planning / Organisation: Plans, organizes, and prioritises daily workload to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Decision Making / Impact: Exercises authority and judgement within defined limits; errors or failure to achieve results may cause programme delays or require additional resources.
  • Supervision Received: Works under general to minimal supervision; follows established procedures; work is reviewed for technical soundness, adequacy, and accuracy.
