Location: Manchester, Warrington or Derby - Hybrid

We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Manufacturing Engineer - Factory Design and Equipment.

Role Purpose:

As aManufacturing Engineer - Factory Design & Equipment, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering factory solutions that are both operationally ready and financially viable. Working within the SMR Manufacturing Engineering team, you'll be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing production areas and manufacturing cells.
  • Identifying factory and cell requirements and creating concepts for review and implementation.
  • Collaborating with process specialists and cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient, and effective workspaces.
  • Specifying manufacturing equipment, estimating costs, and planning infrastructure and maintenance.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Proven experience in designing, optimising, and validating manufacturing and operations workspaces.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, value streams, human factors, and risk assessment in manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in specifying, acquiring, installing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment, including full project lifecycle management (technical delivery, schedule, cost, and risk).
  • Skilled in managing technical requirements, including elicitation, documentation, validation, and change control.
  • Effective communicator across business functions and with leadership, capable of conveying technical decisions, risks, and project status.
  • Proficient in 3D modelling tools within PLM environments (e.g. Siemens NX/Line Designer, Process Simulate: Human, Autodesk).
  • Knowledge of value stream optimisation using analytical tools, including Discrete Event Simulation (experience with Siemens Plant Simulation is advantageous).
