Managing Quantity Surveyor

Overview

We are looking to strengthen our Commercial team with a Managing Quantity Surveyor based at either Maple Lodge, Coppermills or Hampton with hybrid working available. You will report directly to the Senior Commercial Manager and you will be expected to take responsibility for the Commercial Management of Project(s).

Responsibilities

• Commercial leadership on a portfolio of projects, ranging in value between £5m and £20m
• Commercial responsibility for end to end commercial management from pre-construction to final accounting
• Lead and manage a team of 3-5 Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors
• Contract Administration of an IChemE contract with the Client, ensuring submission of accurate records and notices required under the Contract via CEMAR, including variations, applications for payment and early warning notices
• Develop and influence Client relationships
• Ensure cash exposure is minimised at all times
• Own margin improvement plans
• Minimise disallowed cost
• Own monthly reporting for your portfolio, including CVR, client forecasting and cash and WIP reporting
• Manage the procurement process for your portfolio
• Be accountable for accurate forecast reporting, with variance narrative
• Conduct site visits to projects and participate in Senior Manager Tours
• Negotiate Works Order Contracts, adhering to Group policy
• Carry out additional duties involved in the commercial management of a portfolio of projects

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree or equivalent; experience of managing and developing an individual or small team; experience in utilities/civil engineering/MEICA sectors; IChemE experience
• Desirable: Chartership of RICS or CICES
