Managing Quantity Surveyor - Lead a £30m MEICA Division - Cambridge

Job Title: Managing Quantity Surveyor (MEICA / Water)
Location: Cambridge (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 + Car / Car Allowance + Package

We are representing a leading main contractor and supporting them with their search for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to head up their thriving MEICA business unit in Cambridge.

This is a career-defining opportunity for a commercially strong QS to step into a pivotal leadership role, taking ownership of a £30m per annum division within the water utilities sector. You'll be the commercial lead shaping its growth, profitability, and long-term success.

The Role

This is more than a traditional surveying role - it's about leadership and influence. As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will:

  • Take full commercial responsibility for the £30m MEICA division, driving financial performance and strategy
  • Lead on tenders, bids and pre-contract negotiations, ensuring a profitable pipeline of work
  • Oversee commercial management across all live projects, ensuring compliance with budgets and NEC contracts
  • Act as the NEC contract expert, managing risk and safeguarding entitlements
  • Mentor and grow a small commercial team, fostering a high-performance culture
  • Deliver robust financial reporting, CVRs, cost control and cash flow management
About You

To succeed in this role, you'll bring a strong commercial background and proven leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a Senior QS, Managing QS or Principal QS within a main contractor
  • Significant background in the water/utilities sector, ideally with MEICA experience
  • Strong pre- and post-contract expertise with demonstrable success in tenders and securing new work
  • Expert NEC knowledge (essential)
  • Commercially driven mindset with excellent financial management skills
  • Team management experience, or clear potential to step up into a leadership role
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline
