Role Overview

In a Nutshell

We have an exciting opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our team within Vistry South East Midlands, at our office in Enderby, Leicestershire. As our Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will foster a teamwork culture, recognize the responsibilities within the Line Management Structure, and ensure opportunities are maximized while problems are identified and resolved. You will oversee the Quantity Surveying functions, manage procurement and tendering of contracts, and work to maximize profitability aligned with client/subcontractor relations and our strategic objectives, including repeat business and risk/reward considerations. You will also participate in team management, including recruitment, leadership, and development of Quantity Surveyors reporting to you.

What we expect from you

  • Degree qualified and member of RICS or IOB (or working towards)
  • Experience in the Construction industry, specifically on mixed-use residential developments including Extra Care
  • Previous experience at Senior or Managing QS or Commercial Manager level
  • Knowledge of subcontract payment and order recommendations, interim valuation, and final account processes
  • Strong team player with entrepreneurial ability in a dynamic on-site environment
  • Training and understanding of COINs and 4p (Viewpoint)

  • Lead, support, and coach your team for growth and development
  • Participate in recruitment, development reviews, and succession planning
  • Collaborate with departments, attend design and contract meetings, and review contract documentation for errors and cost implications
  • Assist in tender preparation, procurement, and cost analysis
  • Manage subcontractor orders, negotiations, variations, and payments
  • Prepare and analyze cost reports, cash flow, and profitability forecasts
  • Ensure contractual procedures and risk management are followed
  • Support training and performance reviews, and perform other duties as directed
