Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate management information, maintaining balance sheet integrity, overseeing work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and supporting audit readiness ahead of the next external audit cycle. The position offers significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence commercial decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities

- Produce divisional and consolidated management accounts with insightful variance analysis.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
- Support WIP reporting, contract revenue recognition, valuations and retention accounting.
- Prepare management reporting packs for senior leadership.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
- Prepare audit schedules and act as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Partner with operational and commercial teams, translating financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
Essential Experience
- Minimum three years' UK-based, in-house management accounting experience.
- Ownership of the full month-end close process.
- Experience within construction, contracting, engineering, property services, or another project-based environment.
- Strong understanding of WIP, contract revenue recognition, valuations, retentions and CIS.
- Experience producing multi-entity or divisional management accounts.
- Experience preparing audit files and liaising directly with external auditors.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial performance to operational managers and senior stakeholders.
- Part-qualified, finalist, newly qualified or fully qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA candidates will all be considered.
Desirable Experience
- Experience using Xero or similar SME finance systems.
- Exposure to Procore or comparable project management/accounting platforms.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working in a growing business where finance processes and controls are continuing to evolve.
- A commercially curious mindset and a proactive approach to improving financial performance.
Ideal Background
This role would suit a Management Accountant coming from a construction, contracting, property, maintenance, facilities management or project-driven environment who enjoys taking ownership and working closely with operational teams.
What's on Offer?
- A highly visible role with genuine ownership and responsibility.
- Close interaction with senior leadership.
- Exposure to commercial decision making and operational stakeholders.
- Opportunity to grow within a successful and expanding business.
