Job Description

Group Management Accountant

  • Location: Chester - Hybrid working pattern after probation
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Salary: Circa £45,000 per annum. Could be flexible DOE

We are currently working with a market-leader in Chester that are looking to recruit a Group Management Accountant, where you will be instrumental in delivering accurate and timely month-end accounts, managing and developing junior finance employees, and improving processes, reporting, and communication. This role reports directly to the Group Financial Controller and acts as a crucial bridge within the finance department.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts up to the point of review by the Financial Controller.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare and post various journals including accruals, prepayments, and loans.
  • Maintain fixed asset accounting and the asset register.
  • Engage in reporting and variance analysis to support month-end processes.
  • Prepare VAT returns and process payment runs.
  • Control AP/AR ledgers and assist in cost centre reviews and budgetary controls.
  • Support external audits and respond to audit queries.
  • Review and analyse credit control activities to ensure efficient operation of the finance function.
  • Delegate tasks and manage workload across sales and purchase ledger clerks.
  • Handle internal queries and communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Manage a team, focusing on upskilling and conducting 1-1s.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ideally fully CIMA qualified. Will look at QBE
  • Prior experience in industry at a medium to large company, particularly within a business that undergoes external audit.
  • Strong technical skills
  • Proven experience at Management Accountant level with strong technical accounting capability.
  • A mindset of continuous improvement, with the ability to identify and implement process enhancements.
  • Comfortable managing a team
