The role
As aMaintenance Support Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Join a vital team supporting the UK's nuclear submarine programme, where you'll play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of maintenance, upgrades, and facility repairs. This is an opportunity to contribute to essential defence infrastructure, working in a fast-paced environment that values precision, collaboration, and commitment to excellence.
Day-to-day, you'll support the full Maintenance Planning Cycle to deliver safe, efficient, and timely maintenance, upgrades, and repairs across nuclear facilities coordinating plans, resolving issues, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring compliance to maintain operational readiness.
- Coordinate readiness activities to enable planned, corrective, and reactive maintenance across nuclear facilities
- Collaborate with Planning Engineers to schedule and deliver safe, efficient maintenance
- Support and lead unplanned maintenance and repairs, ensuring timely resolution of emerging issues
- Manage readiness for asset movement across site, including mobile and portable equipment
- Draft scopes of work for external contracts and serve as a Technical Representative for on-site maintenance delivery
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based onsite at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Maintenance Support Engineer
- Relevant experience in the Engineering industry, with a preference for Operations, Maintenance, or Nuclear environments
- Understanding of Dockside Services and Facilities operations
- Proficient in using Project Management tools across the full Project Lifecycle
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Visio
Qualifications for the Maintenance Support Engineer
- Minimum Level 3 in Engineering Field or equivalent technical experience (evidence to be provided)
- APM Project Fundamentals - Desirable
- H&S Management of Sub-Contractors - Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely - Desirable
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
