Job Description
Job Title: Reactive Maintenance Supervisor North East London

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Salary: £47,989 £51,650 per annum (dependent on experience)

Location: Stratford, London (covering Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest)

Working Pattern:
Hybrid working across home, office, and site locations.
Standard hours between 8:00am 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call rota.

Closing Date: Wednesday 15th April (11:00pm)
Interview Date: Wednesday 22nd April (in-person, Stratford)

Role Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Reactive Maintenance Supervisor to join a busy in-house maintenance team covering North East London. This role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of reactive repairs across a defined geographic area, ensuring high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

You will manage a team of multi-trade and specialist operatives, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. The role also involves close collaboration with internal teams and external contractors to deliver a consistent and effective service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage a team of approximately 10 maintenance operatives across a designated area
  • Oversee the delivery of reactive repairs, ensuring quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
  • Work closely with internal teams including housing, property services, scheduling, and customer contact teams
  • Monitor and drive performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), both operational and financial
  • Analyse performance data, identify trends, and implement improvements where required
  • Manage budgets and ensure cost-effective delivery of services
  • Provide technical guidance and support to operatives on complex repairs
  • Build and maintain relationships with contractors and monitor their performance
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including asbestos awareness
  • Lead, motivate, and develop team members, including performance management and training
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience managing a maintenance team, ideally within social housing or a local authority environment
  • Strong knowledge of building trades and maintenance operations
  • Experience delivering against KPIs and managing budgets
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, including performance and absence management
  • Ability to motivate teams and drive high standards of service delivery
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Experience working with dispersed teams is desirable
  • Full UK manual driving licence required
